I believe according to the beautifully stunning geranium in my south window it has. Isn't she wonderful? What is your favorite flower? Let me know.

The End of an Affair
Goodbye Mr. Winter. We did have some good times together, but alas, I have grown tired of you. I will always cherish the times we spent in front of the fireplace, snuggling under heavy quilts, and feasting on warm bread and hot soups. I must confess, there is another. His name is Mr. Spring Fever. He gives me what you cannot; warm, sunny days to look forward to and promises of fresh green grass.

Weekend Reading
All I can say is, gotta get you one! Copy that is! About a week ago i was on Heather Bullard's site and saw she was taking orders for a new magazine that she helped launch. Since i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, her site, i just had to order the magazine. I was not disappointed! If you love old things and the thrill of the hunt, then this is for you. So much fun reading! I would recommend grabbing some nice hot cocoa and a soft blanket. Then, deposit yourself in your favorite spot and enjoy some "me" time.

Nesting
I wish to CLEARLY start off by stating that i am not expecting! It's just that, like most, I start to feel this way during these dreary, cold months. I put things away, dust (which doesn't happen nearly as often as it should), re-arrange, and then re-arrange again. I dream of having a few extra hours (even one would be nice!), to clean a cupboard and get organized. "Little steps", I tell myself. Little steps.....
When we moved in to our current home almost ten years ago, we opened the sliding glass door to the patio, and a momma robin darted away. As it turned out, she had made her nest right on top of the electrical meter just inches away from the door. All spring we had to be very careful until all of the babies flew away. I even left the nest all winter because, not being up on my birds, had no idea if she would return in the spring. Alas, she did not, so i confiscated the nest for decorating purposes. (not the eggs, they are from the craft store).

Happy Valentines Day
My son wanted a special dinner with his girlfriend this evening, so I set out to create a little table scape for them. I had to use things that i had from around the house as there was no time to shop. You will notice the cute little milk white candy dish from a couple of days ago. Of course i always have candles and votives in abundance. This is the first time i have used the tall silver holder though. I have two, they were a steal i found at a yard sale last summer. Even the silverware came from a garage sale!
Notice the little cow in the tub of bubbles? Isn't she precious? She is from Enesco from many years back. The underside reads "Bubbling Over With Love for You". Everything here is sitting on Susan Branch's "LOVE" book. I just adore her whimsical art and prose.

Just One More
I promise, I'll be done now. For awhile at least. Honestly, how do you put up with me??? I don't know, but it just seems lately that everything looks better in a cup. Maybe because it is so cold and white outside that curling up at home with a cup of something just makes one feel rather cozy. Like your favorite slippers.
I really have been enjoying the time I've been taking to post these blogs. I'm sure the family believes I have finally lost my last marble. I'm always searching for the best lighting in the house (dining room), moving things to get a better photo (even if the object is right in the middle of somewhere where it shouldn't be). I dig in my fabric stash for just the right background material. I go through closets searching for "that" vase. I lay in bed at night wondering if i have cool whip in the freezer for the photos i want to take tomorrow.....yippee! There it is way in back, i better take it out to thaw.

Can't Get Enough Cups....
I visited my local thrift store this morning. I was looking for old mason jars, you know, the kind with the screw-on lid? Well, of course, since I had a specific idea, I couldn't find any. Isn't that how it always goes? Anyway, i did come across some other wonderful little confections. I snatched up 3 clear little cups. You know, the kind that used to come with those little glass hostess trays? I thought i could put some candy in them and take some photos.
I know, I know, I've already done that in a previous post, but I just couldn't resist. I also pondered about the petite little milk glass dish below. But only briefly, as
it was a whole whopping 60 cents. It has a teeny tiny chip on the underside, but i tend to like my things "re-loved" anyway. I quickly added the ribbon and candy
and Wa-La!!!
Well, there you have it. More cups. More candy. More sharing the love...

Cookies for You
A few Sunday's ago I had the urge to bake. So I made these little dainties and stuck them in the freezer. The idea being that if they are out of sight they will last longer. Yeah, right. They are even better frozen with a glass of milk! Not that I would know of course....Anyway, I thought I should quick take a snapshot and share them with you before they are gone. Go ahead, help yourself!

Playing Hookie
Yes, true confessions...I play hookie in the morning with my cup of coffee. I play hookie in the evenings while watching tv. Sometimes even in the middle of the day if a have a spare minute. Mr. Hook and i have a very good time together!
I now have quite a few grannie squares ready to go. All i need to do is lay them out to see how large the finished project will be. I also need to research how to "block" them first. I really don't know why, but it is recommended, so "block" i will. Not quite sure what stitches to use to get them all together either. Research, research, research......I will make sure to show you the finished creation just as soon as it is fit for it's debut.

Coffee With a Friend
Is there anything better? I mean really. Pick up the phone and there she is. It seemed we had so much to say. So, i said, "Why don't you just come over?". And she did. Just like that. We see each other here and there, and at our monthly book club. But coffee? We hadn't done that in oh, so long! I meet her at the door, and she hands me this beautiful embroidered runner. She says "I thought you would like this!" No, I don't like it--I LOVE it! Don't you agree???
I really do. I mean, who took the time to lovingly do this? Where was she from? How many hands has it passed thru? I like that about old things. If only they could talk. Character, many objects have it. Not so much with people anymore.....

Spring Fever
Does anyone else feel the need to dig in the dirt? I can feel the scent of the earth just drawing me in saying, "Come play with me!". But alas-- my dirt is still under three feet of snow. So, wait I must. I'm not always a good "waiter"..... For today I will have to settle for my stack of garden magazines (I save my favorites from year to year, does anyone else do that???) and seed catalogs. Above are Lupine from my garden last year. They were tricky for me to get going, but by the third season they really took off. What are your favorite flowers? Leave me a comment and let me know!
